A selection of photos taken during the visit to Merelbeke depot during "The Neutral Zone" railtour.

Merelbeke depot is located near Gent on the secondary from Zottegem and Dendermond. It is visible from passing passenger trains and the station of Merelbeke is virtually alongside the depot.

The class 25/5 sub-class were at one time used on Brussels to Amsterdam services but since the class 11's ere introduced they have been demoted to freight duties only. 2556 is receiving attention in the main shed.
7368, one of the many large shunters allocated to the depot. These are used mainly in the Gent docks area and often convoys of them are seen heading to or from the docks. This example carries the name "Cargo" which is actually the radio call sign for the loco, not a "true" name.
