The New Frontier
25th April 2014

Day 1 started with the Prishtine - Peje service train hauled by 001, ex HZ 2044031 or JZ 645033

The tour then started at Fushe Kosove with 005, ex NSB Di3.619, and although we didn't know it at the time a very dead 002 on the rear

Plinthed steam loco 01-043 was visible outside Fushe Kosove station is you cared to brave the rain

Our first photo stop was just a short way from the depot by this rather battered looking old semaphore signal

A second photo stop, in torrential rain, was taken at this impressive rock formation

During a stop at Drenas the rain came back with a vengeance and many of us took shelter in the station bar

Lining up for a shot of the NoHab at this unidetified station...

... and then a shot of 002 (ex JZ 661.132) with station buildings that have definitely seen better days

At this bridge we had a number of runpasts which afforded different views of the train if you were able to get around in the muddy conditions, this is from runpast no.1 ...

... runpast no.2 ...

... and finally runpast no.3

At Kline we passed the Peje service train returning to Prishtine

And finally we arrived at Peje

There then ensued a large amount of shunting to get 002 to the back of the train and 005 to the front, during which time it became clear that 002 was only only the train for photographic purposes and wasn't actually a workable loco

Finally some watery sun at another unidentified station on the return

A second attempt at "the rock shot" - this time without the rain

And to end the day a quick shunt out towards the depot with 009
